Summer, Have You Forgotten Us?

Okay maybe that title is a little dramatic given that it IS still February....but I'm seriously considering an inquiry as to whether those guys that decided to add a minute to our year due to Earth's rotation slowing down ACTUALLY ADDED a few months instead. Oh sweet summer, you're just a few short months away now. We have paid our winter dues and NEED you to be here quickly. This little testament to summer arrived in the mail today. Now it will be a toss up between studying the seed catalogs and the Door County Travelers' Guide.

Eula Mae Anderson Hicks

What a stunner. That's my Grandma Eula on the right. This pretty, perfectly coifed exterior hides the unbelievably strong woman that lies beneath. This summer she will turn 87 years old. Her road hasn't always been easy, or even close to it, but at 86 years of age she couldn't be sweeter, gentler or more caring toward everyone in her life. My generation could learn a lot from my grandmother's generation of women. They handled their business, fed their families from the land and just kept chugging.
God Bless Strong Women.

My Artiste

Marshall noticed on PBS the other day that kids could submit artwork of their favorite PBS cartoon character and it might be shown on the air. The challenge was on....first, which to choose? There are so many great options...Curious George, Word Girl....the entire cast of Sesame Street...my goodness, who could choose? Clifford was the big winner in the end....and oh what a Clifford he produced. I'm so proud of him. Now it will be hard (just for me I have a feeling) to send it away in the mail!

Mean What You Say

"Here Mommy, this is you."

I sure hope so. This little gal looks like she could handle herself. That's what we need a little more of in this world...people who say what they mean, mean what they say and keep the rest to themselves.

And I really enjoy capris and flipflops. ;-)

What a Guy

Get really close to your computer screen....now look at the location right above my dad's head....you might need to squint a little....do you see it? The halo. He is busy here installing the shelving above my new creative central (i.e. the upstairs office). THREE shelves to be exact, AFTER he spent the entire day installing a new electrical outlet BELOW my new creative central (which included primarily crawling around in the freezing, dusty, dark attic for 8 hours).

Thanks Dad.

The Brotherhood

Brothers are so cool. Obviously I don't know what it's like to be a brother, but I'd imagine it's pretty neat. Two guys, on the same wavelength, same parents, same complaints, same joys...pretty cool. I think Marsh should now qualify for some type of Brother of the Year award, as he is so understanding, patient and loving of his baby brother. "Here Clancey, let me show you how that works." I'm blessed.
